Dutee, Jauna touches Asian Games magical timings

Bhubaneswar : Odisha ace sprinter Dutee Chand and Jauna Murmu were conformed their place for the Asian Games to be held at Jakarta in the women 200 metre and 400 metre hurdles events respectively in the inaugural day of the four-day 5th National Inter State Sr Athletics Championships at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Fastest women sprinter of the Nation Dutee, finished on the top of the women 200 metre heats round. While She clocked 23.46 to become the fastest among the 22 athletes took part in the heats rounds and qualified for the final to be held on Wednesday.

With the 23.46 timings in heats which crossed the time qualified for fourth coming Asian Games set by AFI 23.50 sec, so she conformed her place for the Asian Games. Her state-mate Srabani Nanda also entered the final with a timing of 24.04 seconds.

As the AFI set a qualifying mark of 57.52 seconds in the women 400 metre hurdles event for the upcoming Asina Games. Jauna bagged the gold medal in the National meet by clocking 57.02 seconds. Not only she touched the magical timings but also rewrite new meet record. The previous meet record was in the name of Anu Raghavan with 57.21 in 2017.

While, Anu Raghavan of Kerala and Saritaben Gayakwad of Gujarat won the silver and bronze medals by clocking 57.68 and 58.01 seconds respectively. Earlier in the heats round today, Jauna clocked 58.22 seconds. .
