Dutee double strikes for Asian Games qualifier

Bhubaneswar : Double strike by Odisha’s ace sprinter Dutee Chand as like 200 metre race again she was breached the qualifying marks in the women 100 metre event for Jakarta Asian Games to be held from August 18.

Top sprinter Dutee, breached the qualifying marks in women 100 event by clocking 11.42 seconds in the 58th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships at Guwahati on Thursday. Her heats time of 11.42 seconds was inside the qualifying mark of 11.52 secs

Earlier, in the preliminary rounds of women’s 200m, Dutee was the fastest with the time of 23.45 secs, better than the qualifying mark of 23.50 secs.

Dutee, who recently fought and won a ‘gender’ case against the international federation at the Court of Arbitration for Sports, she was bounced back in the National meet to touched the qualification timings in both 100 and 200 metre.

Other Odia sprinter Srabani Nanda and Jauna Murmu clocked 11.96 and 53.42 seconds in the women 100 and 400 metre respectively. While, Srabani enter the semifinal and Jauna entered the final.

Unfortunately Srabani will miss the semifinal rounds. I could not take part in the semifinal rounds due to my muscle injury. I was disappointed but injury is the part of the sporting career. I will make a strong come back in the coming season, said Srabani Nanda .
