60 players join university chess selection trail

Bhubaneswar : Altogether 60 players from different Universities of India are taking part in the selection trial of World University Chess Championship, being organized by KIIT University under the aegis of Association of Indian University here.

The top four finishers of both men and women categories will be selected to represent Indian Universities in the World University Chess Championship 2018 to be held at Aracauj, Brazil from September 12 to 18. The selected players will join the coaching camp to be organized by KIIT University

The participating Universities are KIIT University, Fakir Mohan University, Osmania University, Sabitri Bai Phule Pune University and Jadavpur University.

Top seeded player in the event is IM Sidhant Mohapatra of FM University in Boys and Akankhya Kabi of KIIT University in girls.

The tournament was inaugurated by Achyuta Samnata , Founder, KIIT and KISS , he conveyed his best wishes to the players for their selection in Indian Universities Chess team. .
