Ayushman wins bronze in National U-7 chess

Bhubaneswar : Ayushman Mohanty bagged bronze medal in the open category of the National U-7 Chess Championships at Bandimane Kalyana Mantapa, Tumkur on Tuesday.

Ayushman registered nine victory and lost two rounds in the 11 rounds nine day tournament. Other Odisha players Pritipal Sarangi, Tanmay Talin Behera and Swastik Suvam Patnaik were scored six points each to place in 67th , 80th and 89th position respectively. Altogether 214 players were participated in the open category.

Sandepa Priyadarshini Sahoo finished 11th in the U-7 girls category by winning eight rounds and suffered defeat in three rounds to gather eight points. While another Odia player Pratyasa Jena gained 7.5 points to finish 14th place.

Earlier, in the State U-7 Chess Championship, Ayushman Mohanty gathered seven points to became champion of the open category, while Swastik Subham with six points received the runner up trophy.

Similarly in the State U-7 girls category champion and runner up titles was claimed by Sandeepa of Cuttack and Pratyasa by gathering 6.5 points each by the end of seventh rounds respectively. .
