Odisha to face Manipur in National girls football final

Bhubaneswar : Host Odisha will cross swords with Manipur in the Sub Junior Girl’s National Football Championship at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Thursday.

Odisha edged out Kerala by 6-1 goals , while Manipur win over Himachal Pradesh by 3-2 goals in the semifinal matches at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday.

Double strike each by Malati Munda, Manisha Naik and Joyti Kumari guided Odisha in to the final by winning over Kerala by 6-1 goals.

Malati Munda opened the account for Odisha in the seventh minutes of the play, she also netted another goal in the 64th minutes. While Manisha and Joyti contributed double goal each in the 37th, 44th and 61st, 65th minutes respectively. However Malavika P of Kerala team scored the solitary goal in the 19th minutes to reduce the winning margin.

In a nail biting semifinal match, the injury time score by Hemam Shilky Devi powered Manipur to barge into the final by defeating Himachal Pradesh by 3-2 goals.

Manipur dominated the first-half by scripting lead in the 41st minute through a goal by S Lynda Kom. After the change of sides, Himachal Pradesh skipper Anju netted back to back goals in the 67th and 75th minutes. In between Lynda also added a goal for Manipur in the 74th minutes.

The all important goal scored by Hemam Shilky Devi in the 90+1 minutes and took away the match from Himachal Pradesh. .
