Rajesh lifts State U-25 Chess trophy

Bhubaneswar : Current State champion and top seeded Rajesh Nayak maintained his dominancy through out the seven rounds to become champion of the State U-25 Chess Championship, which concluded here on Sunday.

Unbeaten Rajesh was scripted six win and a draw to gather 6.5 to claim the top prize, while Rakesh Kumar Nayak of Khurda and Susobhit Das of Sundargarh scored six points each to finish second and third. However second seeded Baivab Mishra of Puri was scored 5.5 points and finished fourth.

Total 86 players were took part in the three day long seven rounds tournament, being organised by Khurda District Chess Association (KDCA). The top four finishers of the tournament will represent the State in the coming National U-25 Chess Championships.

Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra gave away the prizes as the chief guest of the closing ceremony in presence of KDCA Secretary Subhasis Patnaik.

Among others All Odisha Chess Association Vice-president Ranjan Mohanty , KDTA joint secretary Saroj Behera and international Arbiter Tapas Mohanty were present. .
