CM felicitates Asian Games double silver winner Dutee Chand

Bhubaneswar : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik felicitated 18th Asian Games double silver medals winner Dutee Chand and her coach Ramesh Nagpuri here ar State Secretariat on Friday. On the occasion CM handed over the cash award of Rs 3 crore to her and also assured the State Government will provide all possible support to her for Olympic preparation.

Fastest women of the nation, Dutee is the first Odia athlete to win double silver medals in the Asian Games. She won the medals in the women 100 and 200 metre events by clocking 11.32 and 23.20 seconds respectively.

Dutee expressed her thanks to the Chief Minister and expressed “Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has supported me a lot. He is always lucky for me,”

“I also thank everyone and grateful to KIIT and KISS founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta because he has been encouraging me a lot since he knew me,” she added.

I will spend the money for my training, now my aim is to prepare myself for the next Olympic and bring a medal for the country, she added.

Sports and Youth Services Department Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev and Director Vineel Krishna were present.

Odisha’s ace sprinter Dutee Chand and her coach Ramesh Nagapuri received a rousing welcome on her return to the state at Biju Patnaik International Airport today.
