Malaya creates NMR in All India Postal meet

Bhubaneswar : Odisha Postal Circle athlete Malaya Kumar Pati created a new meet record (NMR) in the hammer throw event by throwing 48.92 metre and bagged gold medal in the three day All India Postal Athletic and Cycling Tournament, which concluded at Jaipur in Rajasthan on Thursday.

Malaya won his 12th gold medal in the hammer throw event by rewriting NMR, the earlier record was 48.20 metre in the name of Malaya in the year 2017. Dharmendra Mohanta grabbed another gold for Odisha in the 110 metre hurdles with a timings of 15.70 seconds.

Another athlete Renubala Mahanta won double bronze medal in the women long jump and triple jump event with a distance of 4.80 metre and 9.80 metre respectively.

A six-member Odisha Postal circle team won total of four medals which included two gold , two bonze medals.

The athletes Budhuram Singh (Long Jump, Triple jump, high jump), Dillip Kumar Rout (100 mtr men), Renubala Mahanta (100 mtr women), Gopinath Mohanty (100,200 race, 400 mtr hurdles men), Dharmendra Mohanta (110 mtr hurdles) and Malaya Kumar Pati (hammer, discuss, shot-put throw) will take part in the three day event.. . .
