Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi visits Hockey World Cup venue

Bhubaneswar : Ahead of 83 days to host biggest sporting event the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup, the chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi visited the venue Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday to excess the progress work.

He expressed his satisfaction and said that “Everything is on its ways. A lots of work has been done here in the stadium. It would be great to see the stadium once all the works are completed by the end of September 30.

The infrastructure development of Kalinga Stadium is in full swing. The works like increasing the capacity of galleries to 15,000 has been already completed with installation of new chairs.

The construction of four dressing rooms, media centre, broadcaster’s room and match officials’ room work is expected to be over before the end of September.

Padhy visited nook and corner of the stadium. The relaying of new blue turf has been completed in main ground, as well as in the practice ground.

The matches for the World Cup would be played from November 28 to December 16 in the new turf. Each day two matches would be played from 5 pm onwards. Quarterfinals would be played on December 12 and 13. Semifinal and Final matches are scheduled on December 15 and 16, respectively.

Lab Sports a FIH approved egency conducting the ground certification work. Hockey India officials have expressed their satisfaction over the relaying of the grounds and also progress of work at the stadium.

Among others, Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan Sports and Youth Services secretary Vishal Kumar Dev, Director Vineel Krishna, Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty, IDCO CMD Sanjay Kumar Singh and Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner Krishan Kumar were present. .
