Nalini Kanta memorial State badminton begins

Bhubaneswar : As the entries has been increased in many folds, the qualify round matches of the men’s, women’s, Under-17 and Under-15 boys singles events has been began in the inaugural day of the 5th Nalini Kanta Mohanty Memorial State Open Ranking Badminton Tournaments at East Coast Railway Indoor Stadium here on Thursday.

Apart from the veteran doubles event, altogether 244 shuttlers from across the State are taking part in the four day meet. While, K Murli Krishna and Krisnika Birok are the top seeded in the men and women categories respectively.

The tournament is featuring total cash prizes around Rs.3.00 lakh will be given to the winners, runner-up and semi-finalists. Besides, there will be two numbers of special cash prizes to the upcoming players of the State and a player of the tournament will be awarded.

Commissionerate of Police Satyajit Mohanty inaugurated the tournament in presence of Anugul Sukinda Ralways MD Dillip Samantray, MLA Ansuman Mohanty and Tara Pattnaik. Among others, Amateur Badminton Club president Prithivi Ballav Pattnaik, working President Bibekananda Mishra and Secretary Chandi Prasad Mohanty were present. .
