Germany beat Pak in World Cup Hockey

Bhubaneswar : Germany the World no ranked 6 started their campaign with a opening note by defeating World ranked 13 Pakistan in the Pool D league match of the Odisha Hockey Men's World Cup at Kalinga Stadium on Saturday.

Fourth time gold winning team looked off colour in their league match against Germany . The first quarter and the match was evenly poised. Both teams with decent half chances, but the first quarter remain 0-0.

In the 20th minute Germany got two back to back scoring opportunities, but Pakistan holds its front before Rashid Mehmood brought the ball out of the defence area. The first ended with 0-0 score.

Marco Miltkau scored the all important goal in the 36th minute and Germany took the lead. Miltkau stretched and scoops the ball over the on rushing Pakistan goalkeeper Imran Butt.
Pakistan gone down to 10 players as Muhammad Irfan Jr as he showed a green card. Taking the adventage of the situation, Germany all most closer to doubled its lead but Pakistan asked for a referral. Niklas Wellen's powerful strike was deflected into the goal by Marco Miltkau, but the ball hit the Miltkau's body before entering the post in the 53rd minute. .
