Lifter Sneha bags gold in Khelo India Youth games

Bhubaneswar : Lifter Sneha Soren bagged gold medal in the 49kg girls U-21 weightlifting category of the 2nd Khelo India Youth Games at Pune on Friday. She was lifted total 157kg which included 68 kg in snatch, 89kg in clean and jerk.

Ace swimmer Pratyasa Ray bagged bronze medal in the 100 mtr backstroke events with a timing of 1:10.61 second. While sprinter Pragyan Sahu received silver medal in the U-21 girls 100 mtr hurdles by clocking 14.34 seconds and Jagdish Barik was won another silver medal for the State in the U-17 boys gymnastic event.

In the team event, Panjab and Odisha will face Haryana and Uttar Pradesh respectively in the U-21 hockey semifinals on Sunday.

In the Pool B match on Friday, it was Odisha who maintained their 100 percent record as they defeated Jharkhand 2-1 to top the Pool with a tally of nine points. A brace from Odisha's Shilanand Lakra in the 9th and 35th minutes saw him put his team into a commanding position. While, Jharkhand's only goal of the match came in the 39th minute through Ashim Tirkey. .
