Khurda Cup chess begins

Bhubaneswar : In view of promoting the chess, a great initiative has been taken by Khordha District Chess Association with 'Zero' entry fee hosting the three-day Khurda Cup Odisha State Open Chess Championship -2018 , which inaugurated at Mindtree Kalinga in Infocity here on Wednesday.

Top seeded Manish Kumar gathered three points by the end of third rounds and placed in the top of the point table along with 12 others. Unrated Adarsh Anubhav of Khurda was stunned many players by winning all three rounds today. He edged out high rated players

Bijayalaxmi Barik (1362) and Ranjan Mallick (1284) in the second and third rounds respectively. While, eight players jointly placed in the second place with 2.5 points.

Altogether121 players including 47 International rated players are taking part in the nine rounds tournament.

KDCA secretary Subhasis Pattnaik inaugurated the meet, while international arbiter Suresh Chandra Sahoo, Tapas Mohanty, FIDE arbiter Santosh Mohapatra and Siba Prasad Barik are conducting the meet. .
