Defending champion PSPB, TN teams enter quarterfinals of National TT

Bhubaneswar : Defending champion PSPB women team entered the quarterfinals of the 11 Sports 80th Senior National and Inter-StateTable Tennis Championships, defeating Delhi by 3-0 at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium at Cuttack on Saturday. Similarly their Men team also entered the quarterfinals by winning over Assam by 3-0. Similarly Tamil Nadu's both men and women teams confirmed their quarterfinal place

Mouma Das started the PSPB campaign by winning over Vanshika Bhargava 11-4, 8-11, 11-8, 11-2, while her-mate Madhurika Patkar double the lead by defeating Kritika Malik 12-10, 11-7, 10-12, 11-5, and Archana Kamath took away the match from Delhi by out playing Garima Goel 11-5, 16-14, 11-4.

Last edition semifinalist, Tamil Nadu conceding a match down barged into the quarterfinals this time by defeating North Bengal 3-1. Thanks to double win by Reeth Rishya who helped Tamil Nadu to confirm the quarterfinal place.

North Bengal was got the 1-0 lead as Nikita Sarkar win over Amrutha Pushpak by 8-11, 11-8, 11-4, 10-12, 1-11. However Reeth Rishya made it 1-1 for Tamil Nadu by defeating Puja Paul 7-11, 15-13, 11-7, 11-8, while Vidya Narasimhan script 2-1 lead for Tamil Nadu by out playing Sukanya Bose 11-7, 11-5, 6-11, 11-6, finally Reeth won another match for the team , by taking sweet revenge against Nikita Sarkar 11-9, 11-8, 11-8

In other pre-quarterfinal matches, Telangana, Maharashtra-A, Maharashtra-B, West Bengal, Tamilnadu, Gujarat, AAI beat Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, North Bengal, Rajasthan, Odisha respectively and entered the quarterfinals in the women section.

Defending champion PSPB men team players, G Sathiyan and A Sharath Kamal were defeated Angneev Gohain and Birdi Boro by 11-4, 11-3, 11-1 and 11-8, 11-7, 12-10 respectively , while Sudhanshu Grover win over Shankab Baruah 9-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7 and guided the team into the quarterfinals.

Last edition semifinalist Tamil Nadu, marching towards quarterfinals by defeating Rajasthan 3-0 . While (Sushmit Sriram opened the account for Tamil Nadu by defeating Abuzwan 11-3, 13-11, 11-4, and Nitin T won another match for the team by winning over Vivek Bhargava 13-11, 11-4, 11-5, in their third match Suresh Nikhil scripted win against Asif Khan 11-7, 11-9, 14-12
