Myanmar , India win Hero Gold Cup inaugural day match

Bhubaneswar : Top ranked of the tournament Myanmar and host India were started their campaign with a winning note by defeating Nepal and IR Iran by 3-0 and 1-0 goal respectively in Hero Gold Cup Four Nation Woman's Football Tournament at Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday.

The 44th ranked Myanmar started slowly in the first half, midfielder Khin Moe Wai opened the account for the in the injury time of the first half.

After the change of sides, Myanmar midfielder Win Theingi Tun double the lead in the 54th minute. However Nepal team was created few scoring opportunities but strong Myanmar defenders never allowed them to score any goals.

In other hand, Myanmar kept their pressure on and in the 77th minute Khin Moe nailed her second individual goal and took away the match from Nepal by 3-0.

The 62nd ranked India dominated the match from the beginning missed few scoring chances and the first half ended with 0-0.

After the lemon breaks, host midfielder Sanju gave a through pass to the left wing , forward Anju Tamang well placed their to rest the ball inside the Iran's net in the 48th minute ensured India made it five wins in a row having won the last four Friendlies against Hong Kong and Indonesia respectively.

In the last 20 minutes, Iran teams looked different and geared up to scored the equaliser, but Indian goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan made few brilliant save.

In counter attack , midfielder Sanju's powerful strike crossed passed Iran's goalkeeper in 81st minute, but it was deflected from the top bar of the post. .
