Myanmar, Nepal win in Hero Gold Cup

Bhubaneswar : Injury time double strike by substitution Yee Yee Oo powered Myanmar to notch back to back wins by defeating IR Iran 2-0 goals in the Hero Gold Cup Four Nation Woman's Football Championship here at Kalinga Stadium on Monday.

Conceding the inaugural match against host India the IR Iran team showed a fight back attitude against the strong Myanmar. The defence line combination between Fatemeh Aminehborazain, Malika Motavallitaher and Behnaz Tahherkhani never allowed the attacking Myanmar to open their account in the first- half the score board read as 0-0 in the first half. They also contain the tempo till the 90 minutes.

After the change of sides, 44th ranked Myanmar adopted high attacking style, last match double striker Captain Khin Moe Wai got a scoring chances in the 54th minute, while her left wing shoot was deflected by IR Iran goalkeeper Zahra Khajavi. Similarly the left wing Ei Yadanar Phyo powerful strike was saved by the Iran goalkeeper.

Iran defenders could able to stand rock solid till the 90 minutes, but Myanmar forward kept their pressure on, however in the injury time Yee Yee Oo opened the account for Myanmar in the 90+1 minute and again she nailed another goal 90+3 minute to sealed the match for Myanmar.

The dark horse Nepal after losing their inaugural match against Myanmar by 0-3, today bounced back against Host India by registering a thumping 2-1 victory.

Determine Nepal girls dominated the match from the beginning by nailing double goals in the fourth and sixth minute by Sabitra Bhandari and the first half score board read as 2-0 in favour of Nepal.

After the change of sides host team combination between midfielder Sanju and forward Anju Tamang created few scoring chances but Nepalese defence and goalkeeper stood rock solid.

In the 53rd minute minute Sanju passed a through ball Anju but in an one to one encounter she was missed to beat the Nepal goalkeeper Anjila Tumbapo Subba. Nongmathem Ratanbala Devi scored the solitary goal for India in the 83rd minutes.

In the first Olympic qualifications round match between India and Nepal was ended with 1-1 draw at Myanmar. .
