Balwant hat-trick guides ATK into Hero Super Cup semis

Bhubaneswar : A hat-trick goals haul by Balwant Singh helped ATK to barge into the semifinals of the 2nd Hero Super Cup, defeating Delhi Dynamos Football Club by 4-3 goals at Kalinga Stadium here on Friday.

Balwant was the first Indian players to score hat-trick in the hostry of Super Cup and the second hat-trick of the tournament to adjudged as the hero of the match.

Komal Thatal free kick from left flank was meet Md Sajid Dhot who was unmarked inside the D area by ATK defenders, Sajid's header was opened the account for Delhi Dynamos in the 15th minutes.

ATK strike Balwant Singh singlehandedly scored the equaliser in the 23rd minute. Skipper Lanzarote found Balwant in the front, who crossed pass the Delhi defenders with his 35-yard run to level the score.

ATK captain Manuel Lanzarote Bruno was doubled the lead in the 28th minute , his powerfull shot was hit inner-side of the right bar and entered the post. Again star of the team power packed Balwant Singh who ran past Delhi defender Gianni Zuiverloont and netted his second individual goal in the 33rd minute.

Lallianzuala Chhangte's cross from the left wing could not be cleared by ATK defender John Johnson, it was a open scoring chance for Daniel Lalhlimpuia who made no mistake to score the second goal for Delhi in the 35th minute and first half ended with 3-2 in favour of ATK.

After the change of sides, the Kolkata team was in a hurry to dominate the show, their forward Jayesh Dilip Rana placed the ball to Balwant Singh with a sliding kick he completed his hat-trick of the night in the 51minute.

Conceding two goals Delhi was desparate in the second half, Nandakumar Sekar created a hope for Delhi by nailing a goal in the 72nd minute, but it was not enough for the team to stop ATK to enter the semifinals. .
