Goa barges into the Hero Super Cup final

Bhubaneswar : The I League champion Chennai City FC’s journey was ended as they suffered defeat from Indian Super League runner up team Goa FC by 0-3 in the semifinal match of the Hero Super Cup here at Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday.

Highest scorer of the ISL Ferran Corominas's double strike guided Goa to enter the final, where they will face the winner of Wednesday’s match between ATK and Chennaiyin FC. This is the second time in this season Goa entered the final of another tournament.

The Goa kept attacking from the beginning of the match, skipper Corominas was drought down by Chennai City midfielder Charles Lourdusamy in the 24th minute inside the D area, referee was rushed to award a penalty kick in favour of Goa. Corominas took the spot kick and opened the account for Goa in the 26th minute.

Again inform Corominas double the lead in the 35th minutes. The wingers pass was poorly cleared by Chennai midfielder B Sriram , it was Corominas who received the ball to make 2-0 for the team.

After the change of sides, the Spanish trio were desperate to open the account for the Chennai team. In the 66th minute Alexander Jesuraj crossed passed two Goa men and his long range kick was deflected from the top of the ball, it was a really scoring chance for Chennai.

In a counter attack, Brandon Fernandes scored the third goal for the team in the 69th minute and took away the match from Chennai.

Desperate Chennai City was created several scoring chances, but the Goa defenders Seriton Benny , Saviour Gama and Serigne Mourtada were never allowed the Spanish trio to dominate them. Saviour of the winning team adjudged as the hero of the match. .
