Kalinga Stadium turf is perfect for World league

Bhubaneswar : After two day inspection by Federation of International Hockey (FIH) accredited farm Acoustoscan India officials on Wednesday expressed that Kalinga Stadium hockey turf is well maintained one and it is perfect to host Hockey World League Final here from December 1 to 10.

The turf is four years old there is little bit discolour in the side line but rest of the ground is well maintained. We had conducted ball rebound, sock observer, differmation, unevenness, bounciness, foot fiction, irrigation, ball roll and its deviation test in last two days, said Senor tester Anthony Apparailly.

The stadium is having a manual watering system, but still then it reaches each and every corner of the ground, if it could have a automatic one it will be better. We made a through verification of the highly used area, in particular the D area and penalty stroke zone both are in perfect shape, added Anthony.

We were re-testing the ground before the international match. We will produce our report to the FIH. For the watering test we had placed 77 cups in 10 metre distance. After four years the size and shape of the ground was remain intact, said Simon Cleary.

In connection to host the World Cup Hockey in 2018, we had our regular praparatory meeting with the Sport and Youth Services Department here today. To increase the capacity of the Stadium the south end gallery work has been started, said Hockey India CEO Eleena Norman.

The World Hockey League tickets are already available online, this time we will provide maximum tickets for public sale. The offline tickets will be available in the counter in the stadium from mid of November, added Eleena. .
