State ranking TT meet begins

Bhubaneswar : Altogether 210 players including 50 girls from across 10 districts are taking part in the four-day 12th KDTTA State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament which was inaugurated at Unit-1 Indoor Hall here on Thursday.

Top seeded Anannya Basak of Khudha was entered quarterfinal rounds of the women’s single and junior girls event. Similarly, top seeded Saheel S Bhuyan of Cuttack and Swata Padma Dalai of Bhubaneswar won their respective matches and entered the quarterfinals of the junior boys and sub-junior girls events respectively.

The performance in this tournament will consider while selecting the state team for participating in National championship. The players are participating in cadet, sub-juniors, juniors, youth and senior category in both boys and girls section. The champions and runner-up will be awarded with cash prizes as well as trophies.

Odisha State Table Tennis Association secretary Rabindra Kumar Parida inaugurated the meet in presence of former national champion and Arjuna Awardee Arup Basak, chief Electrical Inspector SC Moharana and Khurda District Table Tennis Association secretary Smruti Ranjan Das. .
