Chhattisgarh take lead Vs Odisha in CK Nayudu trophy

Bhubaneswar : Chhattisgarh scripted a huge 136 runs first innings lead with remaining five wickets intact in the third day of their four day CK Nayudu Trophy U-23 Plate Group-B match against host Odisha at Gandhi Stadium in Balangir on Tuesday.

In reply to Odisha’s first innings score of 111, Chhattisgarh smashed 247 for 5 in 68 overs, Shahban Khan and skipper Shakeeb J Ahmad were batting 69 and 36 runs respectively while the stumps were drawn for the day.

Chhattisgarh opener Rishabh Choubey (44) and Anupam Toppo (37) gave a solid start to the team by stitching 58 runs for the first wicket. Mayank Wadhar was another successful batsman for the team who contributed a 25-ball 31 run. Subham Nayak was most effective bowler of the Odisha, grabbing two wickets for 55 runs.

Odisha added only 32 runs to their overnight score of 79 for 4. The maximum damage caused by Ajay Mandal who pocketed six wickets by giving only 26 runs, while captain Shakeeb and Ravi Singh scaled two wickets each. The match was started in the second day at 2.00 PM, after the opening day was called off without a ball bowled due to rain and wet outfield.
