All India LIC Games from Nov 9

Bhubaneswar : For the first time in 61 years, Odisha LIC Branch is going to host All India LIC Games at Kalinga Stadium and Railway Indoor Stadium here from November 9 to 12, informed Senior Divisional Manager Laxmi Prasad Das.

Nearly 424 sportsperson from eight zones and 113 divisions across the country will take part in the four day mega event.

Events like athletics, volleyball, carrom and chess matches will be held at Kalinga Stadium, similarly table tennis and badminton matches schedule to be take place at Railway Indoor Stadium. The opening and closing ceremony will be held at Kalinga Stadium.

Odisha chess player Manoranjan Sahu and WIM Kiran Manisha Mohanty are having a bright chance to win in medal in the meet.

Odisha athletes Prakash Kumar Mohanty (javelin throw), Madhusudhan Bala (200 metre), Santosh Kumar Panda and Srinibash Badjena (both in volleyball) will be in the race.

As we are going to host for the first time, many players will came to the capital city of Odisha. To promote our culture and food we will utilise the platform by serving our Odisha food along with Paika, Gotipua, Chhau, Ghumura and many form of dances at the time of inauguration and closing ceremony. LIC Chairman V K Sharma will inaugurate the meet, added Laxmi Prasad.

Among others, Sports meet coordinator Anant Bhusan Rath, Personnel and Industrial Relation Manager Nurshingh Charan Behera, sports secretary Ramakant Das and Pramod Kumar Sahu were present. .
