Subrat bags State open snooker title

Bhubaneswar : Odisha’s ace cueist Subrat Das emerged champion of the 7th MIET All Odisha Open Snooker Championship, defeating Siddharth Sen by 6-4 at Vintage Club on Tuesday.

Confident Subrat was started the final bout with registering a 2-0 lead. But Siddharth bounced back to level it 2-2. By the end of ninth frame Subrat was leading with 5-4, in the final and 10th frame Subrat played an excellent game by outplaying Siddharth 6-4 (74-24, 79-50, 42-51, 45-58, 77-26, 47-46, 44-75, 76-29, 42-58, 81-34 ).

This was Subrat's 3rd MIET title, earlier he won the title in 2006 and 2007. The champion received a cash award of Rs 25,000 along with trophy, while runner up took home Rs 13,000. Akash Mohapatra was got cash award of Rs. 5000 for the highest break point of 73.Vintage Club owner Amiya Ranjan Nayak, Co-owner Satyadeep Das, tournament chief Govind Sharma, organising committee secretary Shyam Agrawal, joint secretary Mishal Swain and Jeet Kishore Das were present in the closing ceremony as guest. .
