Odisha girls register back to back defeat in U-19 cricket

Bhubaneswar : Assam edged out Odisha by five wickets in the East Zone U-19 Women’s One-day League match at JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi on Wednesday. Odisha was suffered back to back defeats in their three outings, earlier they lost to host Jharkhand by seven wickets. With the win Assam gained four points.

Batting first, Odisha was lost their opener Rasmita Chinhara at the score of two. Kajal Jena and Sangetta Khedia was consolidated the innings by stitching 75 runs for the second wickets, while Kajal scored half century and Rasmita remain unbeaten with 54. The Odisha total reached 165 for 5 in 50 overs.

In reply, the combined batting effort of Gayatri Gurung (39), Ruhina Pegu (38) and Uma Chetry (35 n.o) were guided Assam to reach the winning target in 41.2 overs for the loss of five wickets. G M Alakananda was the most successful bowlers for Odisha by picking three wickets for 41.

Brief Score: Odisha 165/4 in 50 overs (Kajal Jena 50, Sangeeta Khedia 54 n.o; Poonam Nayak 23 n.o;) lost to Assam 166/5 in 41.2 overs (Gayatri Gurung 39, Ruhina Pegu 38, Uma Chetry 35 n.o; G M Alakananda 3/41) by 5 wickets. .
