Murali smashes ton against Odisha in Ranji trophy

Bhubaneswar : Tamil Nadu kept their momentum on against Odiaha, rode on a ton by opener Murali Vijaya team gathered an impressive 292 for 3 in the inaugural day of their four day Group-C Ranji Trophy league match at DRIEMS Ground at Tangi on Thursday

. Opting for batting first Tamil Nadu made the best use of the ground which seems to be a batting paradise. The spirited Tamil Nadu batsman looking high in their confidence and made the host bowlers frustrated by sending the balls to different nuke and corner of the ground. N Jagadeesan and Vijay Shankar was batting with 41 and eight respectively while stumps were drawn for the day

. The Tamil Nadu captain Abhinav Mukund was sent back to pavilion early due to a clear cut misunderstanding between opener Murali, while taking a tight single. Odisha fielder Dhiraj Singh was reacted smartly and keeper Rajesh Dhupar made no mistake while Tamil Nadu total was 19 on the board.

Murali was smashed 273-ball 140 (15x4,1x6) to set a platform for the team to accumulate a huge first innings total. He scored his 21th century in the first class cricket and reached the individual 8000 runs land mark.

. Odisha made two changes for this match, the wicketkeeper Rajesh Dhupar replaced Surabha Rawat and medium pacer Alok Sahoo joined team in place of Deepak Behera.

Odisha skipper Govinda Poddar was used six of their bowlers but could not able to stop the easy flowing of runs. In the last season, Odisha’s simmer Suryakant Pradhan was sent back inform batsman Murali Vijay by catching in his follow throw.

It is good wicket to bat on, Murali scored an impressive century, the boys are in good form, so we are targeting to score 500 runs in our first innings after that we will declareTamil nadu Captain Abhinav Mukund.

We are not at all worried about the score, though we got the success in the last part of the match. We will focus in the first season of day two to get maximum advantage of that, said Odisha coach Siba Sundar Das.
