Australia considers India as big rivals in Hockey World League

Bhubaneswar : Defending World League Champions Australia is all in positive frame of mind to start their campaign against the host India in the inaugural day match of the Hockey World League Final at Kalinga Stadium on Friday. Australia placed in the Pool-B along with Germany, England and hosts India.

In our first match we are going to face our big rival India, they are one among the best team of the World, apart from that we are going to play the league match in front of houseful home crowd in a best stadium in India, said captain Mark Knowles.

The team is having eight players who are having less than 50 caps in their names. The most experienced Captain with 305 caps said that the young players are utmost talented and passion to score against the opponents. My job is to passing my experience to them, added Mark

Australia has two changes in their team with siblings Tom and Ben Craig missing out due to injuries and are replaced by young duo Lachlan Sharp and Jake Harvie.

Sharp Lachlan will debut in the inaugural match. The 19-year old was the member of the Junior World Cup team. His role has been come quickly for him to play in the national team. The last minute changes in the squad will marginally affect our structure, but we take it as an opportunity to give platform to young players in highest form, said coach Colin Batch.

In the initial three league matches we are having the liberty to make come back, but the quarterfinal matches will be the crucial one. If we do a small mistake in the quarterfinal we will miss the tournament. We are concentrating to put our best in each and every match, added Batch.

We are having vision for Tokyo Olympics in 2020. In regards to that we are giving our young stars more chances to play in different international matches, added Colin. .
