Aparajita bags bronze in Asian Amateur Chess

Bhubaneswar : Odisha’s chess player Aparajita Gochhikar bagged bronze medal in Asian Amateur Chess Championship-Women held at Chiang Mai, Thailand from November 23 to 30.

She was secured seven points out of nine rounds meet by registering six wins, two draws and a defeat. Cuizon Loreshyl of Philippines and Sandhya Goli of India were won the gold and silver medals respectively by scoring 7.5 points each.

Players of 23 countries were participated in the tournament in both open and women categories. Where as among six Indian players Aparajita and Sandhya brought laurel for the Country by winning bronze and silver medal respectively.

Expressing happiness, Aparajita gives the credit of the success to her parents and KIIT and KISS Founder Achyuta Samanta. She is daughter of .Rama Narayan Gochhikar and Geeta Gochhikar, resident of Puri and currently working in KIIT University as Manager-Administration. .
