Belgium upset Argentina in hockey World League Final

Bhubaneswar : Dark horse Belgium upset World no 1 ranked Argentina in their Pool-A inaugural match by defeating 3-2 goals in the Odisha Hockey World League Final at Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday.

It was the Red Lions who dominated the day, they registered their lead through a penalty corner score by Luypaert Loick in the ninth minute.

Whereas the Olympic Champions Argentina was not got the right combination before the beginning of the fourth quarter.

The last quarter resulted four goals, both the team nailed two goals each. The initial lead of Belgium guided them to win over Argentina by 3-2 goals.

Amaury Keusters scored a field goal in the 51st minute and gave a 2-0 lead to Belgium. Argentina looks altogether a different with their attacking style in the last quarter, Casella Maico and Gonzalo Peillat scored a goal each in the 52nd and 57th minutes respectively.

However, in between experienced drag flicker Boon Tom of Belgium netted a goal in the 56th minute. Luypaert Loick of Belgium bagged the man of the match award, while Casella Maico of Argentina got the junior player of the match award
