Australia draw with Germany in the HWLF

Bhubaneswar : Conceding a goal down in first quarter defending champion Australia made it 2-2 draw in their second Pool-B league match against Germany 2-2 goals draw in the Odisha Hockey World League at Kalinga Stadium here on Friday.

Miltkau Marco’s field goal gave the much needed lead to the German in the early seventh minute. The lead in the first quarter boosts the morale of the team.

In second remain silent for both teams despite of several attacks. The number two team of the World Aus’s was geared up and levelled the score in the 39th minute through a penalty corner by Govers Blake.

Australia looked stronger by stronger as the game progressed, however Aaron Kleinschmidt gave 2-1 lead to the team. But just before the final whistle in the 58th minute German skipper Haner Martin scored the equaliser and the score board read as 2-2 draw.

It was well contested match Australia is a good team, we are happy with the results, thanks to our goalkeeper Walter Tobias busy outing there in the third and fourth quarter, said German captain Haner Martin.

We could have won the match, our boys dominated three quarters of the match but me missed the match by a whisker, said Australia coach Batch Colin .
