Germany beat India to be group topper in HWLF

Bhubaneswar : After drawing with defending champion Australia in the second league match, the spirited Germany edged out host India by 2-0 goals in their Pool-B last league round match and become group topper with seven points in the Odisha Hockey World League at Kalinga Stadium here on Monday.

India finished bottom of the table with one points, India registered a draw out of three league matches. In the quarterfinal rounds, India will face Pool-A group topper Belgium. Germany dominated the show from the beginning of the match, after the barren first half, Ruhr Chirstopher draw the first blood in the 17th minute through a penalty corner. Grambusch Mats double the lead in the 20th minutes.

Germany team who got two penalty corner in the match able to convert one in their fever. While Indian team who was awarded with four penalty corner, but failed to score a goal. The most disappointing thing was that experienced drag flicker Rupinder Pal Singh and Harmanpreet Singh were attempted two PC each but failed to cross pass the Germany goalkeeper. .
