Vijay Merchant trophy : Odisha take 45 runs lead Vs Assam

Bhubaneswar : Odisha’s first innings score gave them a 45 run lead against Assam, but Assam bounced back in their second innings by scoring 221 for 7 at day two stumps in their three day Vijay Merchant Trophy Under-16 East Zone match against Assam at Narul Amin Stadium in Nagaon on Tuesday. In reply to Assam’s 74 run first innings score, Odisha added eighteen runs to their overnight score by losing last two wickets and bowled out for 119 in in 50.4 overs. Reshabh Dipok and Ruturaj Biswas were the most successful bowlers for Assam, picking four and three wickets respectively.

As like first innings, Assam also got a early setback, they lost top two batsman at the score of 39 runs. Combined batting effort of skipper Denish Das (50), Nibir Deka (38), Shivam Mittal (42) and Rituraj Biswas (30) helped the team to gathered a healthy 221 for 7 in the second innings.

Earlier, opting to bat first, Assam was in deep trouble, losing three wickets for 18. They never got the chance to recovered from the early setbacks and folded up for 74 in 38 overs. Bikash Nayak was the most successful bowler for Odisha, picking four wickets 12, while Suraj K Behera pocketed three wickets for 19.
