Odisha’s 10 players in National hockey camp

Bhubaneswar : In the history of Odisha’s hockey all together 10 players of the State got a call from the Hockey India to join the senior national camp ahead of various international events.

The ten members included with Deep Grace Ekka, Sunita Lakra, Rashmita Minz, Namita Toppo, Lilima Minzand Anupa Barla are six women players, while Nilam Sanjeep Xess, the young defender from Sundargarh, Odisha who led the Indian team to U-18 Asia Cup win in 2016, has been elevated to the Senior Core Group. He will train alongside of Odisha defenders Amit Rohidas, Dipsan Tirkey and Berendar Lakra,

The 33-member Indian Women’s probable squad will report for the national camp starting in Bengaluru’s Sports Authority of India campus on January 3.

The 21-day camp that concludes on January 24 will lay the foundation for a crucial year for the women who will take part in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April, 5th Women’s Asians Champions Trophy in Korea in May where they will defend their title followed by an exposure tour to Spain in June ahead of the Women’s World Cup, London starting in July and the 18th Asian Games, Jakarta in August which is also an Olympic Qualifying event.

Indian Men’s hockey team will report for a 10-day national camp to begin on January 4 at the Sports Authority of India, Bengaluru.

With a busy hockey calendar in 2018 that features Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April followed by the Hockey Champions Trophy Breda 2018 in July, the Asian Games Jakarta in August, Asian Champions Trophy in October and the much-awaited Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 starting in November, Hockey India has announced 33 Men’s players for this year’s first national camp which is a mix of young and experienced players along with new faces inducted into the senior fold. .
