Vijay Hazare Trophy : Odisha beat Railways by 2 wickets

Bhubaneswar : Skipper Govind Poddar’s 59-ball 64 and a brilliant centurion third wicket partnership with all-rounder Biplab Samantaray powered Odisha to win over Railway team by two wickets in their inaugural one-day match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at Alur Cricket Stadium in Alur on Wednesday.

Batting first, Railways team bowled out for 212 in 47.4 overs with Arndam Ghose scored highest 48 runs and Ankit Yadav remain till the end for 32 runs. Odisha’s Abhisek Rout and Surayakanta Pradhan were pocketed three and two wickets respectively.
,br> In reply, M R Choudhary’s five wickets haul gone to vain as Odisha was scripted a two wickets victory in 47 overs.

Odisha got early set back as they lost their openers at the score of 45 runs. All credit goes to captain, Poddar who was stud rock solid in the middle by contributing a 64 runs innings, which was studded with seven boundaries and two sixes. On the process he along with Biplab (38) stitched a 105 run partnership for the third wicket and conformed the victory for Odisha.
