PSPB likely to clinch double titles in National team Chess

Bhubaneswar : Though final round is yet to be played on Wednesday, the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) teams was gathered such a huge margin in both the section to capture the title of the National Team Chess Championships at KIIT University here on Tuesday.

Solo leader PSPB men team out played Odisha KIIT by 4-0 in the eighth round, to maintained their all winning race. Before the final round, PSPB clearly lead with 16 match point, while Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB)-Ateam placed in the second place with 13 points. However their will be keen contest for the second and third place, because RSPB-B team and the second seeded Airport Authority of India team shared the third place with 12 match points each in the men category.

Similarly, PSPB women team scripted a dominating win against Odisha KIIT 4-0 and topped the table with 12 points is three ahead of second seeded Air India. Though Air India placed alone in the second place with nine points. Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Tamil Nadu jointly shared the third place with eight match points.

Air India’s two former national champion, Tania Sachdev and Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman won the match against Rucha Pujari and Shesadri Sirja respectively to notch much waited 3-1 victory with AAI.

In the final and seventh round, fourth seeded Tamil Nadu will face strong second seeded Air India team, while third seeded Airport Authority of India will meet low rated Uttar Pradesh team. .
