Rising bag N M Bhuyan Cup trophy

Bhubaneswar : Brilliant all-round performance by Alok Sahu, who scored 40 runs and pocketed four wickets, an unbeaten 63-balls 71 runs by Rajesh Dhuper helped Rising Students become champion of the Kusha Pattnaik Memorial N M Bhuyan Cup Cricket Tournament, defeating Solar Cricket Club by seven wickets at BJB College Ground here on Sunday.

Batting first, Solar was bowled out for168 in 35.4 overs. Alok Sahu was the most successful bowler for Rising Students, picking four wickets for 42 runs.

In reply, It was a easy going for Rising team as opener Alok Sahu set the tune by scoring a 32-balls 40 runs which aws studded with eight boundaries. After the departure of Alok, Rajesh joined the scoring line up by stitching an unbeaten 60 run fourth wicjket partnership with Shesdeep Patra ensure that Rising reached the winning target in 29.3 overs by losing three wickets.

The champion and runner up both the Cuttack teams were received the trophies along with cash award of Rs 40,000 and 25,000 respectively.

Alok and Rajesh of the champion team received the man of the final and man of the series awards respectively. While Pradip Das of Solar team and Biswajit Bhuyan of Rameswar Sporting got the best bowler and batsman award respectively.

On the occasion the Mukteswar Cricket Club felicitated Rosanara Parwin as the best women cricketer of the State.

Home Department Principal Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy gave away the prizes as the chief guest of the closing ceremony.
