Rising Students win the NM Bhuyan Cup inaugural

Bhubaneswar : An unbeaten 42-balls 64 run haul by Rajesh Dhuper guided Rising Students to win over Jagruti Cricket Academy by nine wickets in the inaugural match of the Kusha Pattnaik Memorial N M Bhuyan Cup Cricket Tournament at BJB College Ground here on Saturday.

Batting first Jagruti Cricket Academy was lost wickets in regular intervals and bowled out for 111 in 30.1 overs. Arvind Singh was the most successful bowler for the Rising Students, picking four wickets for 35, while Alok Sahu pocketed three wickets.

In reply, the unbeaten centurion second wicket partnership Rajesh and Alok Sahu helped the team to reach the winning target in 12 overs for the loss of a wicket. Rajesh was smashed 64 run with nine boundaries and four sixes, while Alok’s 24-ball 30 innings studded with three boundaries.

The tournament was inaugurated by industrialist Tara Ranjan Pattnaik in presence of international cricketers Debasis Mohanty and Shiv sundar Das, social activists Jagannath Pradhan and Amiya Das were present.

Brief Score: Jagruti Cricket Academy 111/10 in 31.1 overs (Ranjeet Paikaray 24; Arvind Singh 4/35, Alok Sahu 3/11) lost to Rising Students 114/1 in 12 overs (Rajesh Dhuper 64 n.o; Alok Sahu 30 n.o;) by 9 wickets. .
