Azad Hind barges into Mahanadi cup final

Bhubaneswar : A 44-ball 55 runs haul by Abinash Nayak helped Azad Hind Club of Cuttack to barged into the final of the 2nd Mahanadi Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, defeating Solar Cricket Club of Cuttack by five wickets at Bose Ground in Cuttack on Thursday.

Winning the toss Azad Club elected to field first, Solar Club was scored a healthy 169 for 9 in 20 overs with Rakesh Mohanty scored highest 43 runs. While Loka Ranjan Routray and T Suresh of Azad Club were bagged three wickets each.

In reply, Abinash’s quick fire 55 runs was studded with four boundaries and two sixes and well supported by Santosh Rout with 18-ball 34 run guided the team to reach the winning target in 18.3 overs for the loss of five wickets.

Shekhar Majhi the Under-19 player of the State gave away the man of the match award to Abinash Nayak. Juvenile Cricket Club of Cuttack will face Sahid Sporting Club of Bhubaneswar in the semifinal on Friday

Brief score: Solar Cricket Club 169/9 in 20 overs (Rakesh Mohanty 43, Tanmay Mohanty 27, Sathak Parida 24; Loka Ranjan Routray 3/30, T Suresh 3/30, Jaganath Gota 2/25) lost to Azad Hind Club 170/5 in 18.3 overs (Abinash Nayak 55, Santosh Rout 34, Pradeep Rout 22) by 5 wickets. .
