Six jointly place in top of Kesabananda Chess

Bhubaneswar : Top seeded IM Somak Palit edged out Himanshu Moudgil and Pradip Tiwari in the third and fourth round to gather four points and jointly sharded the top place along with five others in the 7th Kesabananda Das Memorial All India Open FIDE Rating Chess Championship here on Wednesday.

Local girl Smaraki Mohnaty, Utsab Chatterjee, Wagh Suyog, Ambarish Sharma and Arpan Das were jointly place in the top along with Somak.

15 players including local favorite Rakesh Kumar Nayak scored 3.5 points by the end of fourth round and shared the second place.

Smaraki (1821) was caused the upset in the fourth round by winning over WFM Saranya J. In the same round another local boy low rated Rudra Narayan (1621) forced Rakesh (2036) to share points. .
