Bhubaneswar : In the wake of a volatile political situation in Tamil Nadu over the Cauvery water dispute, The BCCI is planing to shift Premier League (IPL) cricket matches in Chennai that would also be the Chennai Super King’s (CSK) home matches.

Odisha Cricket Association sources said that we are in touch with the the board's Commitee of Administrators (CoA) head Vinod Rai and expressed our willingness to host the IPL matches in the Barabati Stadium.

In the past when there was a problem to host the Pakistan matches of the Women’s World Cup T20 Tournament, we came forward and successful hosted all the Pakistan league round matches at Cuttack.

Earlier, the IPL matches of Decan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders were adopted Barabati as their new home ground. With our vast experience it will not be a constraint in our part to organise the IPL matches.

The change of IPL match venue was triggered up when a couple of protesters opposed to the Indian Premier League match in Chennai in the middle of Tamil Nadu’s political agitation over the Cauvery water issue threw shoes from an upper tier at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday.

Kolkata Knight Riders were batting in the game against Chennai Super Kings when a few shoes were hurled from the upper tier of the stands opposite to the main pavilion. Two people were arrested for the same.

BCCI also checked out four different venues, Visakhapatnam is the front runner from among the four cities, the others being Thiruvananthapuram, Pune and Rajkot. Despite that OCA is having all expectation to be the first choice for IPL matches in the month of May 2018. .
