Goa thrash Jamshedpur to enter Super Cup semis

Bhubaneswar : Double strike by Hugo Adnan Boumous guided FC Goa into the semifinals of the first edition Hero Super Cup, defeating Jamshedpur FC by 5-1 goals at Kalinga Stadium here on Thursday. In the semifinal on April 16, Goa will face East Bengal.

Though the Goa FC entered the semifinals, but their team will miss the service of mid-fielder Brandon Farnandes, skipper Bruno Filipe Tavares and Sergio Juste Marin as the three were got direct red card in the quarterfinal match.

Brandon Fernades opened the account for FC Goa in the 34th minute. Brandon followed a brilliant through ball from mid-fielder Hugo Boumous inside the box and the ball got past JFC goalkeeper Subrata Paul.

The second half was started with thunder shower with eight players of each team entered the ground. As Subrata Paul, Anas Edathodika and Kervens Belfort from Jamshedpur FC and Sergio Juste, Ferran Corominas and Brandon Fernandes from FC Goa been sent off in the beginning of second half due to protesting against the officials at half time.

The turning point of the match was when Corominas was pushed the ball towards the goal with a very weak effort.JFC goalkeeper Subrata Pal saved for the team and pushed the ball away from the goal line. Brandon received the ball again and found the back of the net but the ball had already crossed the line.

Goan players were protested as the referee took some time to cancel the goal. But the ball did was crossed the line which made the referee right and the first half ended the 1-0. JFC mid-fielder Emerson Gomes brought down Goa forward Ferran Corominas inside the box the striker who was on his way to score the second goal, which resulted in a spot kick for Gao. Corominas was double the Goa's lead from the penalty in the 69th minutes.

In the second half, Boumous dominated the match, he received a miss pass from JFC captain Andre Bikey in the middle field area, with the speed Boumous crossed pass two defender inside the box and scored a goal in the 78th minute. He also netted another goal for Goa in the 89th minute. In between Manvir Singh scored the third goal in the 77th minute. Ashim Biswas of JFC scored the solitary goal in the 90+2 minutes to reduce the goal margin and the final score was 5-1 in favour of Goa. .
