Bhubaneswar : SAI International School’s 10-year kids Kairav Khimji and Ridhi Patnaik achieved the rare distinction by scaling the Jaundhar Glacier (14107 ft) in the Garhwal Himalayas in a six-day mountaineering expedition.

Both were reached the Jaundhar Glacier on 3rd May through a strenuous, rugged, rocky and snow-clad trek through the Har-ki-Dun valley (11768 feet) starting from Taluka village (7953 feet) in the Govind Pashu National Park in Uttarakhand before ascending to the Jaundhar Glacier.

In a bid to increase awareness of the importance of physical fitness, abilities to discover themselves to achieve their goals the “Trek-the-Mountains” group organised the tracking event.

“The trek was hard, the paths were full of stones and rubbles from landslides. Also we faced hailstorms and snowfall made the expedition more difficult. But we stuck on and managed to complete the expedition successfully,“ said Ridhi Patnaik

“We had to trek almost 10 to 12 kms of mountainous everyday and covered a total of 72 kms in our six-day trekking expedition, we stayed in tents and faced harsh challenging weather, but we kept going on despite all hardships” said Kairav Khimji.

SAI international group chairman Bijay K Sahoo while congratulating Kairav and Ridhi said “Jaundhar Glacier trekking needs arduous effort to walk over the uneven screes and moraine terrain, but you could complete it with your sheer determination. .
