State to felicitate Indian Women’s League champion soon

Bhubaneswar : The State Government will felicitate the Odisha based a professional women football club the Rising Student Club players and officials in a function shortly.

Rising Student Club emerged champion of the second edition of the Hero Indian Women’s League , by defeating defending champions Eastern Sporting Union 5-4 vie through penalty shoot out at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, Meghalaya on April 14. The final match scoreline was read as 1-1 draw in the stipulated time.

The Government will provide Rs 30,000 each to 19 players, two coaches and the manager. As per the State incentive and award guidelines the national champion of the approved games will get cash award, as Indian Women’s league is not coming under that category. To motivate and increase the women footballers the Government sanctioned Rs 6.6 lakhs under special cash award scheme.

Earlier, Rising Student Club were awarded 10 lakhs for being crowned champions of Hero Indian Women’s League on April 14. .
