Rudranarayan wins State U-15 Open Chess titles

Bhubaneswar : Fourth seeded Rudranarayan emerged champion in the open category by scoring six points by the end of seventh round in the Odisha State U-15 Open and Girls Chess Championship, which concluded at Sailabala Women’s College in Cuttack on Wednesday.

While top seeded Aditya Ranjan Samal, Shreyash Subham Patnaik and Harshit Ranjan Sahu finished second ,third and fourth respectively by gathering six points each.

In the final round Priyanka Routray was forced to draw with low rated Ankita Sahu in the girls category, while Priyanka become champion with six points and Ankita to grab the runner up trophy with 5.5 points.

Similarly, P Sairupa and Shreya Smurti Mohanty received 5.5 points each and finished third and fourth respectively.

The top four finishers of both the category will represent the State in the coming National U-15 Boys and Girls Chess championships to be held at Kolkata from July 17 to 25.

Ranji Trophy Cricketer Biplab Samantray gave awy the prizes in presence of Sailabala College Principal Chinamyee Mohapatra, CDCA president Asit Mukherjee, Secretary Ranjan Mohanty.

Among others Secretary, PET Swarnalata Bala, CDCA vice-president Santosh Prusty, S.R.Patnaik, Fanidra Mohanty, Chaudhuri P.K Mishra, Advisor, Hemant Kumar Nayak, N.Shariff, Sk.Mansoor Ali, Ajay Kumar Nayak and S.K.Bosoi were present. .
