Arushi, Shreyash win State U-11 chess

Bhubaneswar : Fifth seeded Arushi Srichandan and third seeded Shreyash Shuvam Patnaik were emerged champion by gathering 6.5 and 6 points by the end of the seventh rounds in the girls and open categories respectively in the Odisha State U-11 Open and girls Chess Championship, which concluded at Shree Gundicha Bhakta Niwas in Puri on Sunday.

Ansika Pandey, Palok Mohapatra and Krishna Arpita were finished second, third and fourth respectively by scoring 5.5 points each. Similarly, open event 2nd,3rd and 4th places were claimed by Sriyansh Das, Soyamshree Mohanty and Gopin Murmu respectively with 5.5 each.

Altogether 131 players from across 11 districts were participated in the three-day seven round tournament. Top four finishers have been qualified to represent the State in the forthcoming National U-11 open and girls Chess Championship.

Puri Municipality Chairman Jayant Kumar Sarangi gave away the prizes in presence of All Odisha Chess Association Secretary Krushna Kumar Sarma.

Among others, District Chess Association Puri vice-president Suresh Chandra Sahoo, secretary Pradyumna Mishra a, joint-secretary Subhashree Das, Umeshnandini Sahoo, Debashish Mishra, Manoj Kumar Panigrahi and Gagan Bihari Routray were present. .
