NSG commandos likely to deploy during Hockey World Cup

Bhubaneswar : Ahead of Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos has been conducted a mock drill at Kalinga Stadium here on Wednesday night.

Odisha is going to host the biggest ever international event here from November 28 to December 16, wherein 16 top hockey playing countries of the World will participate including Pakistan.

Apart from the overseas players and their team officials, more than 100 fans of each country are expected to join the historic event here.

To provided best of the security to the players as well as to the fans, earlier the State Home Department requested the Central Government for the requisition of the NSG security during the World Cup.

Sources said, the NSG team will stay here for few days during the period they will look over the security arrangements in Biju Pattnaik International Airport, Railway Stations, Hotels and State Secretariat, they will also give special training to selected policeman of the Commissionerate Police.

During their visit to the stadium today, the team monitor the entry and exist points of the stadium. Moreover they look after the various evacuation options if any untoward incident occur during the Hockey World Cup, Sources added. .
