FIH conforms Pakistan’s participation in Hockey World Cup

Bhubaneswar : The relationship between Indian and Pakistan will not effect to the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup schedule, which will begins from November 28 to December 16 here at Kalinga Stadium, said International Hockey Federation President Narinder Dhruv Batra.

Batra stated that the relationship is improving day by day and sports is the best platform to develop relationships. All the 16 countries are in their toes to play in front of hockey loving spectators of Odisha. You will not find many hockey stadium in the world is having a seating capacity of 15,000.

Pakistan have to apply for VISA in due time and I am hopefully the India Government will provide them the VISA for the World Cup. It is not bilateral series, so they will participate there is no dout in it, in the case of international tournament the host country always bit liberal to provide VISA to all the participating countries,added Batra.

The World Cup fixture has been prepared well before the schedule date, so each and every participating countries are made their preparation to take part in the event. The is not the first time Odisha Government is going to host the international sporting event. Earlier they had organised Asian Athletics Championships and Hockey World League Final in 2017, added Batra.

The Kalinga Stadium as well as the spectators had a bitter experiences of Champions Trophy Hockey in 2014, where the Pakistan players celebrated opening their shirts while some players made unruly gestures towards the crowd after beating India 4-3.

The incident resulted in such a unpleasant situation that FIH had suspended two of Pakistan players. The Hockey India also took a strong stand by canceling the Ind-Pak bilateral hockey series. .
