250 Rooms reserve for Hockey World Cup teams

Bhubaneswar : The host Odisha Government left no stone unturned to provide best of the facilities to the participating teams, they booked near about 250 luxury rooms in different city hostels to accommodate top 16 teams who are going to take part in the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup here at Kalinga Stadium from November 28 to December 16.

Sources said, the Government has been finalised top five hotels of the city to accommodate the players and the officials. The names are likely Trident Hilton, Mayfair, Swosti Premium, Sandy Towers and Future hotels.

The India Hockey team who are presently staying at Sandy Towers for the national camp will continue there for the World Cup.

The Hockey India and International Hockey Federation officials will be accommodated in the Trident Hotel along with some overseas teams. Three to four teams will be at Mayfair hotel, sources said.

The observers of the different teams will come here before finalising the hotels for their teams. In between the New Zealand and Malaysia team’s observers were visited different hotels in the city and expressed their satisfaction. They had not only visited the hotels, they also visited the venue as well as near by tourist places, sources added.

The 16 participating teams and their officials are expected to reach the city in the mid of November.

The Chief Secretary of Odisha, Aditya Prasad Padhi on Monday visited the World Cup venue Kalinga Stadium, which will be inaugurated on October 10.

The stadium for the mega event is witnessing its last phase of renovation and construction works and is expected to be soon completely ready. The Hockey turfs and the Stadium lighting is already completed and certified. .
