Transparency, team work, technology makes Odisha sports hub

Bhubaneswar : Odisha’s unprecedented success of hosting back to back many international events is only possible due to the visionary of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with perfect team of Sports and Youth Services Department.

The 22 percentage of our state papulation is belongs to different tribals and maximum of our players are belongs to the same community. To up hold their interest for sports we are the only State, who had conducted a State Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Athletic Championship. We fellow the simple guidelines of transparency, team work and technology and the result is in front of the nation, said Sports and youth Services Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera.

Odisha surprised the nation by adopting many innovative ideas to develop the State as the sports capital of India. Long way back in the year 2013, the State government had owned a professional field hockey team Kalinga Lancers, till date also this the only professional hockey league team manged by a State Government in our country. The Lancers also brought the HIL title in the last edition, said Sports and Youth Services Department Secretary Vishal Dev.

The State had created a millstone for many nation by hosting the Asian Athletics Championships 2017 in just 90 days. That is not the only example to become the sporting capital, we conducted Hockey Champions Trophy, World Hockey League Final, Asia Rugby U-18 Girls 7s Championships, also in few days the State will host the biggest hockey event Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup here, added Dev.

We provide better platform to our own players, we fellow intensive talent scouting programs nook and corner of the State and nurtured them in 16 sports hostel run by the Government.

The larger part of our papulation are tribals, to focus more specifically we checked out few sporting discipline like hockey, football, swimming, athletic and shooting. The Government will set up high performance centre for these discipline. The Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik will announce special programs for sports on November 12, added Dev.

The dream is to install international standard high performance centre in Bhubaneswar, where players can have world class training facility with a aim to make Odisha the best training sports hub of Asia, added Dev .
