Biplab, Anurag hit tons in drawn Ranji Match

Bhubaneswar : An unbeaten century by skipper Biplab Samantray helped host Odisha to draw their opening Ranji Trophy Elite Group-C match against Haryana here at KIIT Cricket Stadium on Sunday, However Haryana gathered three points by virtue of first innings lead, while Odisha settled with one point.

Resuming their second innings at overnight score of 50 for one, Odisha were 267 for 7 on the fourth and final day when the match ended with draw. Samantray remained unbeaten 210-ball 103 runs, studded with 14 boundaries and two sixes. This was the sixth first-class century by Samantray and he also crossed 3,000 in this format of games.

Haryana batsman Himansu Rana adjudged as the man of the match who scored 164 runs in their one innings. In replay to Odisha’s first innings score of 321, the visitors Haryana scored 442 runs and scripted a 121 runs lead

Earlier in the first innings, maiden First-Class century by opening batsman Anurag Sarangi helped hosts Odisha made 321 in the first innings. Left-hander Sarangi hit a 190-ball 114, which was studded with 17 boundaries and two sixes. Odisha opted to bat after winning the toss. Despite getting a good start in the first innings we could not capitalise that. The middle order me and Govind Poddar missed our wickets, otherwise Odisha team gathered a huge total, said captain Biplab Samantray.
