Odisha win Unified Football inaugural

Bhubaneswar : A National Unified Football Tournament for Women was kicked off at Kalinga Stadium here on Monday,being organised by SOB-Odisha.

Odisha started their campaign by winning over Punjab by 5-0 goals, while West Bengal registered back to back win by defeating Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand by 5-0 and 6-0 respectively. In another league match, Jharkhand beat Karnataka by 3-0.

Unified Teams from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Puducherry, Punjab, West Bengal, Jharkhand and host Odisha will fight for the top honour. The team is comprises of persons with and without intellectual disability and they compete against similarly comprised teams which leads to promotion of inclusion in the society through sports.

Inaugurating the tournament in the morning, Olympian Anuradha Biswal, unfurled the games flag, took the guard of honour in the march past. In her speech she encouraged the participants for being brave in the attempt and keeping up the spirit. The students of OLS sang Bande Utkal Janani and gave a sterling Odissi performance.

Adventure Sports Specialist, Arpita Mohapatra, Ex NALCO Footballer, Basant Panda and Vice President of BRMASHA, Pradipta Rath were the guests of the different matches. .
